Pleating - Part 2

Okay so, i had been looking forward to the pleating workshop for quite sometime...

so why is it always the case the things you want to be able to do the most are always the things that you struggle with the most!

In the afternoon we were asked to start creating some hand pleating of our own, it all started so well, beginning with a basic 6cm knife pleat...

easy
I then worked on a box pleat which is when i found out the key to pleating is measuring and drawing them up perfectly, or the top pleat wont line up to the bottom.

Not so Easy

The idea is to make a top pleat and bottom pleat and sandwich the fabric inbetween steaming it all to lock it into the fabric.

I was clearly struggling to master the art of pleating, both simple pleats above weren't the huge success id hoped they'd been, but i was far from defeated, infact it had turned into all out war...

A late night in the studio it was to be, with much help from Daisy and Belgin (thankyou for your patience)!!
I had began working on one of the more complicated pleats, this being the zig zag,

with a long demonstration and explation from caryl i was ready to face it head on, of course it went wrong as predicted, undeterred i started again after class this time colour coding each 'mountain' and 'valley' (yes i had resorted to this)

Class attempt: folded to within an inch of its life

After class attempt: faint colour marks left!oh dear

Not one to give up i came back to pleating in my own time at home, finally at 1:30am monday night/tuesday morning it finally clicked!!
Okay so its probably the smallest sample ever to exist but it really doesnt matter,it HAS to be part of my final, just to show
I WON!
